Absorptio

“Absorptio: A Work for Two Opera Houses” is a contemporary opera and commentary on opera culture. Here, the audience becomes part of the work, experiencing familiar yet alien social situations. Participants are invited to rethink the traditional opera experience, and a guide navigates small groups through the performance to ensure they don't get lost.

“Absorptio,” a newly coined word, describes the project's creative context and multiplicity. This interactive work incorporates the social environment and related elements, blending contemporary music, opera, and art. The two opera houses come to life in the event space, a kind of antipode of “high culture.” The “Opera Social House,” a building once belonging to the theatre and now a modern bar, stands next to the main opera house. The work functions as a dialogue between the two opera houses, its dramaturgy echoing themes of ambition, success, artistic pursuit, creation, and consumption.
